I-E-10 JAMES "JIM" NEELY SIBERT (1864 – 1940), son of Jasper Sibert3 (David2, John David1)

James N. Sibert was born on 21 November 1864 in Alabama. [1][2] He died on 20 November 1940, aged 75. He married Hattie N. Arledge in 1891. [1] She was born on 25 December 1870 in Mississippi. [1, 1871 in Jonesboro, Craighead County, Arkansas][3] She died of heart disease on 31 January 1959, aged 88. [3] James and Hattie are buried in the Shiloh Cemetery in Jonesboro. [2][3]

According to the census, on 18 June 1900, James N., born in November 1861 in Alabama, and Hattie, born in December 1870 in Mississippi, lived in Powell, Craighead County with their sons, Llewellyn, born in January 1896 in Arkansas, and Arista, born in May 1898 in Mississippi. James and Hattie had been married for nine years; they had three children and two were living. James was a farmer. [4]

On 25 April 1910, James N., aged 45 and born in Alabama, and Susan[!] N., aged 37 and born in Mississippi, lived in Powell with their children, Louellen, aged 14, born in Arkansas, and referred to as a daughter[!]; Arostea, aged 12 and born in Mississippi; Marcus A., aged six and born in Arkansas; Oyama, aged four and born in Arkansas; and Toga O., aged two and born in Arkansas. James was a farmer. Louellen and Arostea attended school and were farm laborers. [4]

On 22 January 1920, James N., aged 55 and born in Alabama, and Hattie, aged 49 and born in Mississippi, lived in Powell with their sons Ariosta, aged 21 and born in Mississippi, and Toba, aged 11 and born in Arkansas. James was a farmer. [4]

On 12 April 1930, James N., aged 65 and born in Alabama, and Hattie N., aged 59 and born in Mississippi, lived in Powell with their son Ariosta, aged 32 and born in Mississippi; their son Marcus A., aged 25 and born in Arkansas; their son Orville M., aged 21 and born in Arkansas; their daughter-in-law Dixie M., aged 22 and born in Arkansas; their grandson James, aged two and four months and born in Arkansas; their grandson Dan H., aged one and born in Arkansas; their grandnephew Rory Sibert, aged eleven and born in Arkansas; and their grandnephew Troy Sibert, aged seven and born in Arkansas. James was a farmer, Ariosta helped on his father's farm, Marcus was a farmer and veteran of World War I, Orville was a laborer who died odd jobs, and Rory and Troy attended school. [4]

Children of James N. Sibert and Hattie N. Arledge:

1-E-10-a. Augustus Sibert was born on 22 February 1894 and died on 6 April 1894. [1]

1-E-10-b. Llewellyn L. Sibert was born on 9 January 1896 in Walcott[?], Arkansas. He died on 17 June 1956 in San Augustine, San Augustine County, Texas. He married Wilodean Pickler.

1-E-10-c. James Ariosta "Jeff' Sibert was born in Mississippi on 22 May 1898 or 1899 (depending on which record you look at). [1][2][5][6][7][8][9] He died on 2 February 1970. [2][5][8][9] He is buried in the Shiloh Cemetery. [2]

According to his World War I draft registration card, James, aged 19, was a farm hand on his father's farm and was tall with brown eyes and hair. [6] According to his 16 February 1942 World War II draft registration card, Ariosta, aged 43, lived in Jonesboro and worked for L. Sibert. [7]

James A. Sibert served in World War I and World War II. [5] He enlisted for World War I on 25 October 1918 and was discharged on 20 November 1918. [5] He enlisted for World War II as a private on 19 October 1942 in Little Rock. He had completed two years of college and was a farmhand. [10] He was discharged on 25 January 1945. [5]

James A. Sibert of North Little Rock was killed in a car crash on 2 February 1970. [11]

1-E-10-d. Marcus Aurelius Sibert was born on 12 May 1904 in Arkansas. He died on 4 March 1969 in Des Arc, Prairie County, Arkansas. He married first Dixie May Schultz. He married second Geraldine Hendrix.

1-E-10-e. Oyama Sibert was born on 3 September 1906 in Arkansas. [2][3] Oyama, the son of James N. and Hattie Arledge, died from an accidental shooting on 26 October 1917, aged 11, in Craighead County. [2][3] He was buried in the Shiloh Cemetery. [2][3]

Oyama and Orville were working in a cotton patch and had a .22 rifle. Orville was holding it, and Oyama asked him to give it to him quickly as he wanted to shoot a bird. He grabbed for it; the rifle was cocked, and Orville's finger slipped, and he shot his brother in the stomach. [2]

1-E-10-f. Orville Toga Sibert was born on 29 August 1908 in Jonesboro. [1][2][7][8][12] He died on 15 October 1989. [2][8] He married Florence Beatrice Brewer on or shortly after 21 August 1940, when they obtained a wedding license in Poinsett County, Arkansas. [2][13] She was born on 12 September 1915. [2] She died in December 1982, aged 67. [2] Orville and Florence are buried in the Chapelwood Memorial Gardens and Mausoleum in Wake Village, Bowie County, Texas. [2]

According to his delayed birth certificate—attested to by his mother—Orville Toga was the son of James Neely and Hattie (Arledge) Sibert. [12]

According to the census, on 3 April 1950, Orville T., aged 41, and Florence B., aged 34, lived in Texas City, Galveston County, Texas with their two daughters and Orville's widowed mother-in-law, Ethel Davis. Orville was an electrician at a tin smelter, and Florence was the proprietor of a restaurant. [4]
